Financial controller / Finance manager (part-time, remote, flexible hours)

We’re looking for a business-minded Financial Manager, who wants to help us make an impact in a growing SaaS company. You will report directly to the CEO and will be fully responsible for maintaining financial information and processes.

Your sharp eye for detail and accuracy will result in a continuous increase in quality. Thanks to your deep accounting knowledge and ability to follow the financial impact of month-end activities from start to finish, you will ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining financial administration, while ensuring the integrity of financial data in accounting and other financial systems.
  • Performing day-to-day financial transactions, including posting and recording accounts receivable and payable.
  • Performing accounts reconciliation (payable, receivable, bank transactions, and credit card).
  • Preparing the monthly financial statement closing process up to monthly reports with variance analysis on budget versus actuals.
  • Liaising with external accountants on monthly reporting, local accounting and tax filings in designated subsidiaries.
  • Managing Dutch and other European VAT declarations and reconciliations.
  • Managing and operating all AP and AR processes including revenue control, invoicing and payments with current customers.
  • Reviewing and approving suppliers' invoices and employees' expenses.
  • Documenting internal processes/controls as well as identifying actionable insights and suggest recommendations to address issues and improve accounting processes/efficiencies.
  • Participate in the review of monthly financial statements and provide insights on the trends and variances identified.
  • Partner with the internal team as well as engineering and business partners, as needed, to define, establish and implement processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Provide legal support for customers’ and employees’ contracts, including GDPR, company liabilities, and insurances.

Requirements:

  • Available for 8 to 24 hours per week.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance positions, accounting and controlling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Finance & Accounting.
  • Skilled in the following:
    • English language fluency
    • Accurate, proactive, self-starter with a ‘never miss a deadline’ attitude who can effectively work under pressure and multi-task.
    • Understanding in revenue recognition requirements for SaaS businesses.
    • Strong business acumen, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
    • Advanced Excel/Sheets skills to include pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas, and modeling.
    • A keen eye for continuous process improvements, including the ability to innovate and simplify both finance and operational processes.
    • Knowledge of operational AP, AR, payroll, travel & expenses and cash management
    • Experience of European Statutory accounting in one or more countries preferably internationally operating companies with multiple VAT registrations
    • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and knowledge of international accounting requirements
